Buster's Food List

This food list is an ever evolving thing.  In the last 3 months, he's really started to be more willing to taste new foods.  He won't always eat many bites but just a willingness to try is HUGE.  While this list may seem very small to anyone with a child that eats a normal diet, for a feeding averse child, this is actually quite an extensive list.  While this is a huge battle for us, I recognize that our son willingly eats more foods than many, many other feeding averse children.

Accepted Foods

pureed foods
(This was his primary source of nutrition until the time I started writing this blog, he was 2.5 yrs adjusted age and 2 yrs 10 months chronological age.  He'll eat nearly any food if it's pureed to a smooth texture as long as it has a reasonably pleasant flavor.  This is how we are able to get lots of fruits and vegetables in him.)

most types of crackers & chips (He likes crunchy foods.  They provide a consistent texture.)

Fruity Cheerios

yogurt (both smooth and recently he's begun accepting yogurt with small chunks of fruit)

cottage cheese
(This one baffles everyone.  He hates most things with more than one texture.  But for whatever reason, he will eat small curd cottage cheese and even requests it.)

apple sauce (various flavors but no lumps)

cheese (almost any variety of cheese broken up into bite size pieces)

green beans (this is new and I'm hoping it will continue.  I have to make pat them dry but he will eat them.)

apples (cut into sticks)

macaroni & cheese

freeze dried and fresh peas

raisins

bacon (very crispy and broken into pieces)

chicken nuggets (cut into VERY small bites)

banana

slices of roast turkey (cut into little pieces)

small bites of bread (no crust, has to be a consistent color and texture)

carrots

broccoli

strawberries

Tolerated Foods

lima beans
pasta with tomato sauce
grilled cheese sandwich (with crusts cut off and cut into small pieces)
fried foods like mozzarella sticks, if we are at a restaurant and they are cut into tiny pieces
french fries (fries used to be on the accepted list but he had a setback with them and now he will occasionally eat them but only the ends)
strips of bell pepper
blueberries
yogurt covered raisins
Belvita cookies
Ritz Bitz cheese sandwich crackers
animal crackers
